Gandalf

Gandalf is a semi-analytical calculation code designed to predict the quasi-static behavior of face gears. Gandalf is co-developed with the LaMCoS laboratory of INSA Lyon

Capabilities

  • Spur or helical pinion
  • Flat or conical gear
  • Micro-geometry (crowning, tip relief)
  • Cutting errors
  • Structural flexibility (shafts, webs) taken into account by preliminary FE calculations
  • Tooth bending: mixed FE/analytical influence coefficients method
  • Contact deformations: simplified Boussinesq and Cerruti analytical formulations (only normal effects at contacts)

  • Non-loaded contact zones
  • Pressure distribution
  • Load distribution
  • Loaded transmission error
